Dr. Chris Brattain
Dr. Chris Brattain is proud to serve as the Principal of Denver City High School, where he brings more than 20 years of experience as an educator, administrator, and athletic coach. Dr. Brattain earned his Bachelor's degree while playing basketball at Wayland Baptist University, followed by a Master's degree from West Texas A&M University. He then completed his Doctoral degree at Texas Tech University, further solidifying his commitment to educational excellence.
In addition to his role as Principal, Dr. Brattain is also an Adjunct Professor at Texas Tech University, where he continues to contribute to the academic community. His passion for education and leadership is matched by his extensive experience in coaching and developing student-athletes.
Dr. Brattain and his wife, Lori, are proud parents to three children—Jalen, Bree, and Kobe—as well as a daughter-in-law, Cailyn, and a granddaughter, Blayke. He has always held a deep respect for the Denver City schools and the community and is honored to lead the high school as it strives for continued success and growth.

Dr. Brad Irons
Dr. Irons is an educator, musician, and speaker committed to empowering others to achieve success and reach their life goals. He has worked as an elementary and secondary school teacher, an education director, an SAT/ACT instructor, a newspaper editor, and a publications manager, including serving as the owner of his own publication. He has also served as a music director, pastor, communication specialist, and graphic designer for companies such as Texas Instruments and Platinum Press. He possesses strong technological skills and has experience with a wide range of hardware and software.
A Texas native, Dr. Irons graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor with a bachelor’s degree in English and Drama. Later, he completed his Master’s in Pastoral Counseling, Master of Divinity in Theology, and his Doctorate in Theology and Philosophy with a focus on administration. He moved to Denver City in 2015 to serve at First Baptist Church before taking the position of World Geography Teacher at Denver City High School in 2022. He has served on the Denver City Chamber of Commerce and is currently a member of the City Council.
Dr. Irons is also an award-winning singer/songwriter and has served as a musician for over twenty years, sharing music at churches, conferences, and many other organizations. Brad plays several instruments, including guitar, piano, bass, hammered dulcimer, and drums. He is a member of the GMA (Gospel Music Association), GMAA (Gospel Music Association of America), and ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers). He has released several albums available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and other digital platforms.
Dr. Irons is married to Dr. Dawn Irons, a professional counselor and owner of Hope Harbor Counseling in Denver City, as well as an instructor at Liberty University Online. They have three children (Christopher, Joshua, and Laura) and one grandchild (Jesse).
He is dedicated to seeing every student succeed, be respected, and be encouraged to achieve their best life. Dr. Irons is a diligent professional with a consistently positive attitude. He will be an excellent resource for teachers and students on their journey to reach their goals. He desires to continue building positive relationships with the faculty, staff, students, and families of DCHS, as well as to continue being a blessing to the Denver City community.
